Sign Installation

A Good Sign Needs a Good Installation

A sign can be well designed and still fail if it is mounted badly: letters that are not level, hardware that rusts, water getting behind the wall or a sign that does not pass inspection. Installation is where a sign either lasts or becomes a problem.

Spazio Design installs the signs it fabricates. Our licensed, insured installers work from our own lift and bucket trucks, so we can reach building facades, plaza fascias and entrance signs safely. We survey the location first, so the sign is made to fit the surface it will be mounted on.

We install on stucco, masonry, metal panels and storefront facades, and we coordinate the electrical connection that illuminated signs need with your landlord or electrician.

Permits and Inspections for Sign Installation

Exterior signs generally need a permit before they are installed, and the permit has to be approved first. Depending on the city, there may also be an inspection after installation. Requirements for size, placement and illumination depend on the property and its zoning.

We take care of the permit paperwork and plan the installation around the approvals, so the sign goes up once and goes up right. For general guidance on how permits work, see our sign permits page.

Installation Signs: Common Questions

Do you install the signs you make?

Yes. We design, fabricate and install, so one team is responsible for the sign from the first mockup to the final mounting.

Who handles the permit?

We do. We prepare the drawings and the application, submit them and follow up with the city, and we schedule installation once the permit is approved.

What surfaces can you install on?

We install on stucco, masonry, metal panels and storefront facades. We check the surface during the site survey and choose the hardware for it.

What do you need for a quote?

The address, a photo of the wall or entrance, your logo and the type of sign you want. If you have landlord guidelines, send them too.
